How I work...
- I believe that you already have capacity to heal, build strong relationships, and make healthy decisions. Ultimately, therapy is a process of self-discovery. As a therapist, it is my job to provide you with tools that you can use in this process.
- Through an empathic, authentic, nonjudgmental stance, I will strive to meet you where you are. I will work collaboratively with you to explore, process, and honor your lived experiences and support your work towards self-actualization.
- I believe in focusing on the here-and-now. To heighten your awareness, during each session I will work with you to understand your present feelings and interpersonal reactions so that you can better be prepared to experience them in-the-moment throughout your day.
- I operate from a client-centered humanistic approach, focusing on aspects multiculturalism, existentialism, mindfulness, family-systems, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), while being mindful to consider of cultural concerns and practices at every step.
- I believe that children can communicate quite a bit through play. When working with kids I utilize play therapy to help access their narratives, to give them the space to explore the meaning behind their feelings, behaviors, and experiences.
- Whether working with children or adults, I believe your feelings are valid. The key is the way that we approach managing and interpreting those feelings. Through establishing a safe space and building a strong therapeutic relationship, we can explore ways understand your feelings, and how those feelings are affected by the world around you.
