Organizational Consulting & Training Rooted in Social Justice

What We Mean by Social Justice in Organizations:

"In terms of an organization, we see social justice as the ability of members of your community to have equitable access to compensation, support, consistent feedback, protection from workplace hostility and aggression, as well as a sense of welcome and belonging."

"Who am I? "
"Am I who I say I am? "
"Am I all that I ought to be?"
 - Frantz Fanon

Fanon’s three critical questions help us to inform our work with organizations.

Who are you?

  • What is your mission?
  • What communities do you serve, and what are the outcomes that you desire?
  • What is the organizational culture to which you aspire?

Are you who you say you are?

  • How is your organization intentionally mission-driven?
  • How are you serving the interests of your communities?
  • What are the experiences of the people who work within your organizational culture?

Are you all that you ought to be?

  • How can you improve and rededicate yourself to your mission, or how can you modify your mission to better align with your organization’s reality?
  • How can you better serve the interests of your communities and reduce potential harm to adjacent communities?
  • What are ways to improve your organizational culture to align more closely with a socially just organizational culture?

Deeper Than Color provides boutique consultative services for organizations that are serious about developing socially just practices and are willing to disrupt their status quo.

Organizational Consulting, Training & Facillitation

Real organizational change is hard. It requires more than a workshop or a policy update. It requires honest reflection, a willingness to look at what is actually happening inside your culture, and a sustained commitment to doing something about it
Deeper Than Color provides boutique consulting and training services for organizations that are ready for that level of engagement. Our approach is grounded in the academic and practical literature on social justice, organizational culture, and the psychology of race and identity. We help leadership teams and staff develop a shared language, deepen their self-awareness, and build the practical skills needed to create more equitable and inclusive environments.
We work with universities, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, and corporations. Our services include interactive training workshops, facilitated group discussions, and individual and group consultations. Each engagement is tailored to your organization’s specific needs, culture, and goals. There is no one-size-fits-all path to becoming the organization you intend to be.

Our Consulting Process

We begin with a conversation, focused on identifying organizational needs. We then build a plan for addressing those needs.  This might include training, facilitated discussions, group and/or individual consultations.

Training Workshops

Training workshops consist of interactive discussions that encourage participants to integrate the target skills with their personal experiences and the practical realities of your organizational culture.

Individual & Group Consultation (Coaching)

Group and Individual consultations tend to be facilitated conversations, with a focus on identifying both strengths and areas of potential growth. We work toward building insight, which will help in the development of practical solutions.
