What Happens When Your Body Changes Faster Than Your Mind is a workshop designed to open a dialogue that the healthcare system has yet to fully start about mental wellness, identity, and rapid weight loss. It is the first step in what I envision as an ongoing series on GLP-1 Mental Wellness, followed by a longer-form support group for those who want to go deeper: to process their experiences, resist diet culture in real time, and do so in the company of others on a similar path.
You deserve more than a prescription and a follow-up appointment. You deserve space to understand what this journey is doing to all of you. Body and Mind.

My Story: Why I Created This Space

Food, dieting, and weight have been threads woven through the story of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I did the deep work. The kind that doesn't show up on a scale, but reshapes how you inhabit your own body and move through the world. After a long journey, I arrived at a point I’d never thought I’d be: genuine acceptance of my body and a peaceful, sustainable relationship with food. That felt like freedom.
Then, about a year ago, I began a GLP-1 medication to address some health concerns I was experiencing. I went into it with my eyes open. I knew rapid weight loss was ahead of me, and I also knew that rapid change carries its own risks, not just physical ones.

"I didn't want to return to my old mindset."

What concerned me most was this: I didn't want to return to my old mindset.
I had worked too hard to let a shrinking body become a reason to shrink myself emotionally or psychologically. I didn't want old narratives about weight and worth to come rushing back in. I wanted to move through this experience from a non-diet, body-positive, genuinely healthy mindset. To let my body change without letting that change rewrite the story I had so carefully built about who I am.
What I found, however, was a silence in the medical system.
Not one of my doctors or allied health professionals raised the question of psychological impact. There was no conversation about what it means, emotionally, relationally, or psychologically, to experience rapid weight loss, especially for someone with my history. The support I did find came from Reddit threads and online forums, where others were bravely naming what the clinical world wasn't: the psychosocial weight of this experience, and how hard it is to resist the pull of diet culture when your body is visibly, rapidly changing.
The more I read and connected with others' experiences, the clearer something became: this gap in care is not a personal failing, it is a systemic one. And the antidote is community, conversation, and a container where these experiences can be held with honesty and without judgment.
That is what we will build together.
