Dr. Bines is committed to working with Black and other marginalized communities, bringing a relational, integrative, and social justice-informed approach to his clinical work, grounded in the understanding that people cannot be separated from the biological, cultural, social, and systemic forces that shape their lives. That lens informs the full range of his clinical interests, which include adjustment, anxiety, depression, family dynamics, identity development, life and career transitions, men’s issues, perfectionism, racialized stress, self-compassion, and self-esteem. Outside of the therapy room, he’s into sports, music, and time with his people.
Dr. Bines offers strength-based, culturally affirming therapy that holds your identities and life context at every stage of the process. He prioritizes building a genuine, trusting relationship where you can show up as yourself without performance or judgment. His work is collaborative: together, you’ll clarify your goals, identify your strengths and supports, and develop approaches to navigating challenges and creating change that actually holds. He draws on interpersonal and cognitive-behavioral frameworks, using what fits rather than applying a one-size fits all approach. Dr. Bines believes we all live within cultural contexts that both empower us and create real difficulty. His goal is to help you feel grounded and capable as you move through your life, not because the challenges aren’t real, but because you have more capacity than you may currently see.
How I work...
- Your identities and life context are present in the room at every stage of our work together.
- I believe that building a genuine, trusting relationship is the foundation — you should be able to show up as yourself here.
- We’ll work collaboratively to name your goals, draw on your strengths and supports, and develop strategies for change that hold over time.
- I take an integrated approach, drawing on Interpersonal Process Therapy (IPT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other frameworks tailored to your needs.
- We’ll work to understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, trace recurring patterns back to their roots, and identify real openings for change.
- You live within cultural contexts that shape what’s hard and what’s possible. The goal is to help you move through your life feeling capable and empowered, because you have more capacity for change than you may currently see.
- $185 per 45-50 minute individual therapy session
