She earned her doctorate in psychology from Pace University in New York City and completed advanced psychoanalytic training at the Harlem Family Institute, where she later served as Clinical Director for ten years. Dr. Arrington went on to lead the Psychology Department at Garnet Medical Center for four years before joining the behavioral health team at Hackensack University Medical Center in 2023
Dr. Arrington holds faculty appointments at the Hackensack School of Medicine and the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. She provides inpatient and outpatient psychotherapy services, and her clinical work is deeply informed by how family dynamics and cultural history shape self-esteem, confidence, and performance—in school, at work, and in sports
She treats a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, ADHD, learning challenges, and race-based trauma, working with individuals and groups across the lifespan. Her commitment to underserved communities is reflected in her decade-long leadership at the Harlem Family Institute, a program dedicated to training therapists of color and providing care in marginalized communities
I believe the most lasting change happens when your voice is central to the process.
Dr. Arrington also serves on the board of the O’Brian Dennis Foundation, which develops programs for individuals at the intersection of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, and on the board of the Metropolitan Institute for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Outside of clinical work, she has developed training curricula on cultural identity and race in psychotherapy, and consulted on film and television projects exploring mental health in African American communities.

How I Work...
- I provide therapy that’s rooted in cultural humility. I believe trust grows when we honor the full spectrum of your identity—race, gender, work environments, religious affiliation, family, and beyond.
- My approach is eclectic. I integrate psychodynamic methods with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based strategies.
- I’m interested in the “why” behind things. Many of our thoughts, feelings, and reactions make sense when we look at earlier experiences or relationships. In therapy, we gently explore those patterns—how they show up now, and whether they’re helping or holding you back.
- I work in partnership with you. We’ll determine your course of treatment together. I believe the most lasting change happens when your voice is central to the process.
- I also believe the life you want involves using the strengths you already have, while building new skills to support your growth.
- I try to be very down-to-earth as a therapist. Therapy doesn’t need to feel formal or clinical. You don’t need the “right” words. It’s okay to ramble, change your mind mid-sentence, laugh, or say, “I’m not sure where I’m going with this.” All of that is welcome.
- I believe mental and physical health are deeply connected. Stress, anxiety, trauma, and depression often show up in the body—through sleep issues, fatigue, tension, or chronic pain. And physical health challenges can take a real emotional toll.
- Whether you’re coming in with something specific or just a sense that something feels off, my hope is that therapy with me feels thoughtful, supportive, and grounded in real life.
I provide online Therapy for Children (10+), Adolescents, and Adults (18+)
